There is a kind of business that fits in a corner of your living room and pays for the rest of your life. Few people talk about it because it does not look impressive on a podcast.

It has one founder. A small product. A handful of repeat customers. A newsletter that goes out on the same day every week. Nothing dramatic happens. The lights stay on.

I have built loud businesses and quiet ones. The quiet ones are harder to brag about and easier to live with.

If you are tired before you have begun, ask whether you are building for the story or for the life. They are not the same building.
